In the name ofAllah the oft-Guiding
Verily, I was among the wrong-doers
No one has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah)], Glorified (and Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers.”
One day, my friend has told me that she cannot pray using that supplication sincerely, she wondered if she was that bad person for she can’t have that sincerity in worshipping Allah SWT?
She asked me that question spontaneously with a shy smile, and left me drowned in my thoughts and wonders, and I started to ask myself as well, do I make that remembrance of Allah sincerely? Or they are just words that run on my tongue with no hearted feelings!
By chance, I found one of the sheikhs who was speaking about the same supplication, and he was mentioning when prophet Yunus “pbuh” was swallowed by an enormous whale and he lived in its belly for three days. Why was this noble prophet “pbuh” among the wrong doers? He did that in advance.
He hasn’t waited for the order of the creator SWT and he decided to move from that place where he found no use of speaking to its people more than that about Islam, and insisted on moving to another place with his humane effort without waiting or seeking the permission from Allah SWT.
So that point was missed by me! I hadn’t realized it that way before, when I heard these words I remembered how we did the wrong to ourselves by committing some mistakes intentionally, but I’ve never could imagine it that way.
So, let’s think about it together my friend.
I should mention an unforgettable story of a father, who was a university professor, used to encourage his little boy on well studies to become his successor in his job, he used to promise him with the best he might wish for if he could get high grades in his high school tests, not to mention how he loved him and cared for everything he did to his son. That moral support from that father is capable on its own to help the son navigate his dreams compass to his father’s destination even if he didn’t have the same passion that the father had.
As for in our teen years our self appreciation is acquired from those who surround us with love and care, especially our beloved ones, so it was like life won’t be real life for this father if his son wouldn’t be his successor in university.
And when this father get the advice to let his son choose whatever he dreams about, he just shuts out the voice of reasoning for sake of not losing the future happiness that he is waiting for when he sees his son the way he wants to see him without thinking for one minute about “what if” that dream never comes true!
Praise be to Allah the Almighty, who says to anything “BE” then it be. The dream hasn’t come true simply because things don’t always go as they are planned. And now look at how that son feels, he feels failure, despite his intelligence and successful qualifications that help him be a successful man, and he will be a real successful man with the will and the help of Allah, but he has been oppressed by his father’s wrong-doing, although it was done out of love and care, but he narrowed his son’s vision and let him feel that anything other than his dream is in vain.
Isn’t that a wrong doing and oppression to a human being hasn’t started the real life yet?
I would like to move to another part that I bet all of us encounter, that side of life even in various degrees.
The moment we refuse to give ourselves that breathing space, when we decide to carry the extra burden with the utmost cruelty and play some inconvenient life roles just for the sake of satisfying that need, the desire of the unlimited giving, or the unreasonable dedication, is it for satisfying some mental image we seek? Or is it because our lack of self-appreciation?
I believe you will understand me very well my friend. I don’t speak about that gift that Allah SWT has granted us with which is the love of giving for the sake of HIM SWT without harming oneself, those kind people who decide to devote a lot of his time for others who need that mental, financial or intellectual support, these people has the bless and tranquility in their life here and in the hereafter as Allah the Almighty has promised.
But whom do I mean?
I speak about that mother who decides to ignore her mental distress and keeps sacrificing for nothing in return from her children. She keeps giving to them her love and appreciation which is supposed to get that appreciation in return as life is to give and take.
I speak about that wife who never sees but all mean and indignity in her marriage life, and nevertheless she keeps on hiding her pains for useless justifications.
If they were persuasive justifications and enough for soothing all their pains, there wouldn’t have been these exhaustion remarks on their faces and bodies.
Doing wrong to oneself is a great guilt. And no one will ever feel the way you feel while you’re hurting inside in disguise.
Those parents who put the big brother in charge of everything and he comes to be liable to take it as a duty, yes we should have duties towards our family, but all the children have that duty, not only the elder ones!
We should have a stance here, let’s look at it from the outside, don’t you think that this way you’re teaching your children to be irresponsible with what you’re doing with them?
You’re taking their burden even if they never ask, so don’t be tough on yourself I can see how you’re getting old, how exhausted your face is, all of that is for what?
I’m sorry mother, sister, and brother, but I wouldn’t have mentioned all of that if I had seen you all good.
It’s the human life and its requirements, we know that things are not great that way, so never stay arrogant my friend and don’t let your soul witness against yourself in the day of judgment, and I remind myself first before reminding you, you deserve not to take all the burden and you deserve to have a stance to express what you need to say as for it’s you who chose to remain quiet, so never blame those who take its advantage.
Let’s be easy on ourselves and let’s reduce that heavy burden out of our shoulders because it’s the right time to do so.
Oh Allah, we seek YOUR forgiveness for what we’ve done to ourselves, and Oh Allah, No one has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah)], Glorified (and Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers.”
All thanks to Allah.
